We had a great day today. We did our usual morning routines with the calendar, parachute, etc. The kids really got into the fire truck song we sang and most of their morning play was based around singing the song and putting out fires. The also spent time hiding coins in a treasure chest. We read lots of stories: Curious George Goes to the Hospital, Thomas and the Mudslide, If I ran the Zoo. We also played outside in all the new snow. We made New Years' Eve hats and talked about starting a New Year at midnight. We put on our hats and had a dance party.

Overall, it was a good day. I think the kids discovered all the new toys today and were excited about them which made it difficult to get them to participate in group activities. I don't think they noticed yesterday since there were so many children here.

They spent quite a bit of time at the train table and playing in the house in the kitchen feeding and putting stuffed animals and dolls to bed. They ran with strollers around the table and up the hallway and enjoyed playing with the new kitten. I was able to get them to come and do some finger plays which they had so much fun doing. We also did our daily calendar and weather song. They pretended to be frogs, cows and pigs. We also played the hullabaloo game.

We had a very busy day today but in a good way. Everyone did quite well meeting new friends. We welcomed Noah and my friend Alana and her 3 children came down in the afternoon to visit us from Maine. Weplayed toys,, sang songs with the parachute, read stories, worked on our time capsule project, colored and played with play-doh, we rode bikes, went for a walk and of course we had breakfast lunch and snack. Alana even sat down with the kids and played a fun rhyming game and we showed her how we do the Cha Cha Slide.

Time Capsule Project: Today we traced the outline of our bodies, we talked about our favorite things that we would want to remember next year. We will start working on the envelopes to put our projects in.
