Transportation Week
This week we will be exploring things that go. Today we had an intro. and talked about vehicles and how they travel. We also spoke about safety and rules of the road. We make stop lights for our craft and enjoyed riding bikes and playing in the backyard. Some of the kids pretended they were dog catchers and veterinarians.

What a strange week! This must be the worst week for children being sick in a very long time. At least everyone is starting to feel better now. We had a fun filled "J" week. We have been Jogging, Jumping, Jiggling and doing Jumping Jacks. We also have been making a little Jungle finger puppet theatre for our Theatre Week. In addition, to our puppet theatre my plan was to do a mini-play with the children. I have animal costumes and I was going to narrate a story and have them make their animal sound. Since, we had such low numbers this week I will try to fit it in next week. Today we read: Dora the Explorer, Hope you Can Come & Dora Saves the Game, Thomas and the School Trip, In a People House, My Best Friend, Brown Bear, Brown Bear and K is for Kising a Cool Kangaroo.

We had a pretty good couple of days. We painted with ice cubes unfortunately the projects were too soaked to take home. The kids really enjoyed playing the ice cubes yesterday that they asked me for them again today. We also got some new books that we have been reading, The Bear Snores on, The Napping House, I feel silly and Jungle Tails which came with puppets. We did our usual parachute singing. Today, we sang a goodbye song to our friend Bo. He will be back to play on the 19th. We made cupcakes for our morning project. We also played animal go fish.
Next week we will be doing our theatre week and working on the letter "J". Have a great weekened.

This week we are talking about the letter "I" for ice. Our colored ice cubes are ready to use to paint with. We have been working on our colors with the new ice cream cone toys. We have been playing lots of fun indoor games like Animal Scrabble and Hellabaloo. We read Treasure Island. The kids played house and school today since Nathan and Jillian were both home from school. It really is the letter "I" week. We need to set up an Infirmery for all of the Illnesses. Jillian was diagnosed with Strep throat at 3pm this afternoon and Bo was diagnosed with walking pneomonia this morning - yikes!!!!

Today was a fantastic day!! It was one of those days that had potential to not be so wonderful since we had to get back in the school routine for the older kids but surprisingly things went well.
We did our morining routines the calendar and parachute. For story time, I let each child pick a book today that I would read during the day. We read: Curious George Alphabet (Noah's pick), In the Tall Tall Grass (Bo's pick), Thomas Colors (Owen's pick). Our focus this week is water, ice and snow. Today we made winter scenes using salt glue as snow. We also put some ice cubes with a small amount of paint in the fridge for tomorrow's project

We celebrated Owen's birthday today and made brownie cupcakes and frosted them - Happy Birthday Owen!! We read Dinofours, Zoolittles Penguins, Phonics Jen the Hen. After we read the Penguin book the kids pretended to be penguins. We talked about the number 7 and about the front of things and the back of things. We did our calendar and I pretended to have a crysal ball and asked the kids what they thought would happen in 2009. The kids were really cute and excited. They then colored their page.
